Cycling and Triathlon since 2013
We welcome riders of every ability. From social no drop rides to full club runs to multi-discipline triathletes.
Welcome to Blaydon Cycling Club
We’re based in the Blaydon area of Gateshead just a few miles from the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne.and have been riding together since 2013. At heart we’re a social club and hold several events during the year which allow club members to get together both on and off the bike.
Whatever your pace there’s a ride and like-minded company for you here with Blaydon Cycling Club
We very much hope that you will join one of our rides or ask about our triathlon side very soon.
Cycling and Triathlon for all abilities

Social Rides
No drop social rides with average speeds of around 11-14mph and probably as much time spent at the cafe as on the bikes!
Absolutely everyone is welcome to join these rides including members and non-members. They are the perfect opportunity to gain confidence riding in a group and improve your cycling skills while meeting like-minded people.
Many of our social riders go on to join our regular club runs in the faster-paced A and B groups.

Club Runs
We offer two types of group rides every weekend.
GROUP A (approx 18mph) : These rides are for the fastest riders and average around 18mph depending on the terrain of course. These rides are for cyclists who want to push themselves for several hours and who are prepared to take their fair share of time on the front.
GROUP B (approx 16mph): These are not quite the lung-bursting efforts you’ll experience in Group A and will average around 16mph. Indeed, you’ll be able to comfortably chat away with your riding buddies and enjoy the lanes of Northumberland and Durham in good company while benefitting from a decent workout.

Time Trials and Triathlon
Blaydon CC has a strong competitive element being well represented in the local and national time trial and hill climb scenes.
The club also organises several time trials every season including in 2026, an incredibly successful Women-Only Charity Time Trial which attracted over 100 female riders in support of Newcastle Women’s Aid.
The club is perhaps less known for its triathlon side but our athletes compete at local, national and even international level.
If you fancy using your legs for running and swimming as well as cycling then get in touch and we can point you in the direction of our supportive and knowledgeable triathletes.
